A 20 year old pregnant woman of Kawambwa District in Luapula Province has been allegedly beaten to death by her drunk husband over nshima.
Police in Kawambwa have since arrested the 28 year old man identified as Evans Kabwe of Chandale Village in Chief Munkanta’s Chiefdom.
And Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo has confirmed the development to Money FM News that on 19th August, 2018 around 21:00 hours, the husband went home in a drunken state and found that his wife had not prepared nshima which made him upset and started beating his wife who was eight months pregnant.
Ms Katongo narrates that the drunk husband was kicking and punching his wife in her pregnancy state, until she because unconscious.
She further narrates that with the help of other people, the victim was rushed to Kala Rural Health Centre and later referred to Kawambwa General Hospital where she died on 20th August, 2018 around 16:00 hours.
Ms Katongo says the deceased’s body is in the same hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem and burial, while the suspect is in police custody and will be charged with Murder.
Meanwhile, police in Sesheke District have apprehended two suspects behind the murder of a female police officer, from traffic department at Katima Mulilo Police Station, believed to have been murdered by her lover and buried her in the bush.
The Police Spokesperson has identified the deceased as Constable Chembwe of Katimalilo Police Station, who was reported missing two weeks ago and she left a one year old baby.
Ms Katongo says an investigation was launched, and led to the apprehension of two people.
She says after searching the house of one suspect believed to have been a boyfriend, blood was discovered an indication that she was murdered and her phone was recovered from the same house and was identified by relatives that it belonged to the victim.
The Police Spokesperson says further investigations have revealed a shallow grave located 10 kilometres from Sesheke District in the bush where the suspect is suspected to have been buried.
She adds that arrangements are being made to have the body exhumed.
