Social Cash Transfer scheme benefits 632, 000 households

Government has disclosed that so far, 632, 000 households have benefited from the Social Transfer Scheme program.

Community, Development and Social Services Minister Emerine Kabanshi says this is compared to the 590, 000 households reached last year.

Ms Kabanshi says the government has set 700, 000 as the target to reach out to the beneficiaries before the end of this year.

She says this is in line with the target given by President Edgar Lungu when he last addressed parliament.
The minister is confident that through this program, a lot of vulnerable people will benefit from the program which she believes is proving to be a transformer of people’s lives.

And the Community, Development and Social Services Minister says under the Food Security Pack, the target has this year increased to 80, 000 from the 40, 000 households targeted last year.

“The government is resolute towards improving food security at household level and we will continue capacitating citizens by supporting them with agriculture through the ministry of agriculture”, the minister said.
