Revamping of Mwinilunga Pineapple cheers BuyZed Campaign

The NGO promoting the proliferation of Zambian products, BuyZed, has expressed excitement to note that government through the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) has taken it upon itself to revamp the Mwinilunga Pineapple Plant which is expected to add value to the pineapples that are grown in the area.

The Industrial Development Corporation is this year expected to invest $4 million in a pineapple processing plant in Mwinilunga District in North – Western Province.

IDC Group Chief Executive Officer Mateyo Kaluba said this follows successful feasibility studies conducted in the area and subsequent approval by the IDC board of directors to invest into the pineapple sector.

BuyZed Campaign Founder Evans Ngoma tells Money FM News that Zambia can sustain the economy by way of revamping factories which will add value to many raw materials dotted across the country.

Mr. Ngoma says the revamping of Mwinilunga plant will translate into massive job creation, a lot of taxes will be collected and that the money will be used for infrastructure development like the road network.

“As BuyZed we are overwhelmed to note that IDC has also opened a bank situated at central park”, he said in an interview with Money FM News.

Mr. Ngoma says value addition will help local entrepreneurs to penetrate the international market.
