Lack of market affecting Zambia’s SME growth – SME Consultant

A Small Medium Enterprises Consultant says there is an urgent need to help local SMEs have access to market for them to grow speedily.
Dr. Windu Matoka has told says most of local SMEs produce quality products that can even penetrate the international market but that they lack access to market.
Dr. Matoka has explained to Money FM News via telephone that local SMEs are competing with imported goods that in some instances are cheaper.
“You must understand and realize that there is too much competition on the market making it difficult for our SMEs to penetrate the market because they are competing with imported goods that are cheaper. We should also come up with a policy that will promote local products to be on the market,” he said.
Dr. Matoka says Zambian SMEs have the capacity to compete with foreign products on the international market and hence the need to help them find market for their products.
