TIZ wants Procurement Act amended

Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) says there is need for the government to amend some pieces of legislation such as the Procurement Act for prudent public finance management.
TIZ Executive Director Wesley Chibamba has told Money FM News that the enactment of the Public Finance Management Act Number 1 of 2018 is also a positive step in the management of public resource.
Mr. Chibamba says if other pieces of legislation are not enacted or amended, the purpose of the Public Finance Management Act will not be achieved.
“The pieces of legislation are supposed to be enacted as a bunch if the act of resource management is to be strengthened in the country,” he said.
Mr. Chibamba has lamented that the enactment of the Procurement Act by Cabinet has dragged for too long which should not be the case.
