PS urges managers to digest ‘Tourism Master Plan’

Tourism and Arts Permanent Secretary Dr. Howard Sikwela says spending on tourism is not expenditure, but an investment.
Speaking when he opened the two-day Zambia Tourism Master Plan Workshop in Lusaka, Dr. Sikwela said he expects members of management at the Ministry to be able to interpret the document efficiently.
He said everyone must be able to explain the key and position of the Ministry even when it comes to presentation of the cluster reports.
Dr. Sikwela said after the document’s launch, all members should freely speak to it for the appreciation of all interest parties to the document so that even the budgets are synchronized with the Master Plan.
The ZTMP takes a helicopter view of tourism planning in order to provide a National Framework for Tourism Planning and Development in Zambia.
Therefore, the ZTMP is to be viewed as a Master Guide for tourism development and Planning in the Country.
Zambia has not had a holistic Approach to Tourism Planning at the National Level since 1978 when the last tourism master plan was done.
