Tourism Ministry to sign contract with Trident Mining

Tourism and Arts Permanent Secretary Dr. Howard Sikwela says his Ministry will closely work with the North Western Provincial Administration to bring out the province’s true tourism potential.
Speaking when the Provincial PS Willies Manjimela led a team of organizers of the upcoming Expo North-West Zambia to pay a courtesy call on him, D. Sikwela says the Ministry has already started working with different stakeholders in the province to harness benefits of tourism in the rich region.
He said soon his Ministry would sign a contract with Kalumbila Trident Mining for a big game ranch through the Private-Public Partnership and allow locals to reap the benefits.
Dr. Sikwela said the province is rich but that it needs to be opened up for tourism investments so that communities appreciate their treasure.
And PS Manjimela said the province would not want to work in isolation and hence the reason he came to see his counterpart.
Mr. Manjimela said he had also brought with him a concept note to the Ministry of Tourism and Arts about the expo slated for August 18 to 24, 2019.
Meanwhile Expo Coordinator Christopher Bwalya said the event would reveal the true potential of the province through investment and trade that can change the lives of the people.
The province has a variety of tourist sites that have not been ‘loudly’ spoken about.
Mr. Bwalya said ethnical tourism of the province is also rich and heritage sites like the sources of the Kafue and Zambezi rivers are just ‘ice to the cake’.
The Expo is under the theme “Unveiling the Hidden Treasures”.
