CEEC helping women, youths, disabled with loans

The Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) says in order to enhance participation of youth, women and the disabled in empowerment programmes, of the 2,988 projects funded by the Commission since 2008 to date, it has allocated 62% of the projects to youth, women and the disabled.
In a statement issued to Money FM News, CEEC Director General Likando Mukumbuta says with 34% of the projects going to women, 27% to youths and 1% to the disabled.
Mr. Mukumbuta says in the same vein the Commission ensures that it mainly provides loans that do not require collateral.
He says as such, of all the 2,988 empowerment loans disbursed since 2019, 91% have been disbursed without collateral while 9% required collateral.
The CEEC Director General says of all the 1, 617 empowerment projects that have been disbursed by the Commission since the reforms of 2013, 92% have been allocated to the rural areas.
He says this is in order to promote development equity and to encourage investment in the rural areas by citizens.
