President Edgar Lungu has instructed the Ministry of Home Affairs to ensure the case regarding the 48 houses is probed further.

Anti-corruption commission Acting Director General Rosemary Nkuzwayo during the Sunday Interview on ZNBC said that the Commission had closed the case against a named Ministry of Finance official who allegedly owned 48 housing units recently forfeited to the State for lack of evidence linking him to the said property.
Speaking to Journalists at State house today, Home Affairs Stephen Kampyongo explained that the desire of the Head of State is to see that matter is brought before the Courts of Law in order to determine the real owner of the 48 houses.
Mr. Kampyongo, however, did not indicate the timeframe under which the probe should be concluded adding that President Lungu is resolved to fight corruption in Zambia.
Meanwhile President Lungu has charged newly appointed Secretary to Cabinet Dr. Simon Miti to improve the performance of the civil service and discharge his mandate exceptionally.
President Lungu was speaking when he sworn-in newly appointed Secretary to the Cabinet Dr. Miti at State House today.
President Lungu expects Dr. Miti to ensure that civil servants must not be partisan but should be loyal to the government in power, emphasizing that he must ensure politics is uprooted from the civil service.
The Head of State hopes the new Secretary to the Cabinet to ensure government performance management contracts of permanent secretaries are cascaded to the rest of the civil service adding that promotions in the civil service should be based on merit.
Dr. Miti has 17 years of experience in the civil service where he as Permanent Secretary in the Ministries of Health; Science and Technology; the Office of the Vice-president-parliamentary business division; National Development Planning; and Cabinet office.
