Cushion consumers from price of fuel

The Zambia Consumer Association has called on the government to find ways to cushion consumers following the upward adjustments in the price of fuel by the Energy Regulation Board.
Association Executive Secretary Juba Sakala notes that with oil prices on the international market rising, it was expected that the price of petroleum products will go up.
Mr. Sakala observes that the Ministry of Energy must find a cheaper source of oil which will should also be consistent in supplying fuel to Zambia.
The Energy Regulation Board increased the pump price of petrol from 15-kwacha 20 ngwee to 15-kwacha 98 ngwee while Diesel has increased from 13-kwacha 43 ngwee to 14-kwacha 23 ngwee.
A litre of Kerosene now costs 13-kwacha 2 ngwee from 11-kwacha thirty-four ngwee representing an increase of 1 kwacha sixty-eight ngwee while Liquified Petroleum Gas is costing 16-kwacha 52 ngwee from 15-kwacha seventy-two ngwee representing an eighty ngwee increment.
