A Kabwe based economist has urged Zambian’s to develop incentives such as infrastructure and road development in preparation for the African Continental free trade agreement which will come with a number of opportunities.
Speaking in an interview with Money FM News Noah Kabwita said if the country is not ready it will be swept by other competitive countries in the business sector.
Mr Kabwita further urged local manufacturers to take position as most of the countries have manufacturers with goods they want to trade with in other countries but they feel hindered with border tariffs.
“Most of the countries right now have manufacturers who want to export to other countries but because of the issue of tariffs, those things they look like they are hindering that growth.” He said.
The Economist added that Zambians also must shift their mindsets from thinking national to thinking Global if they are to take a lead in the African Continental free trade agreement.
He said what is coming involves the continent as such there is need for re-positioning among local entrepreneurs.
Mr Kabwita says the nation should spend time working on improving their skills as the African free continental trade is coming with impact.
He further called on local residents of Chibombo district area to invest in skill development so they may not be left out in the oncoming $600 million United States dollar Central Province Multi Facility Economic Zone.
Noah Kabwita said that people around the area must quickly get skills from institutes of learning in preparation of the skills needed in the facility.
He said if this is not adhered to, most local people will remain unemployed due to lack of skills.
