Investigations into depletion of Zesco units to be concluded next week

The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) says investigations into complaints of unusual and unexplained depletion of Zesco prepaid electricity units have not yet been concluded.
ERB Public Relations Manager Kwali Mfuni told Money FM News in an interview that the Board is still consulting a number of stakeholders to establish a final conclusion regarding the matter.
Ms. Mfuni said the investigations which are aimed at ascertaining the validity of the allegations and also rule out the possibility of Zesco meters having been tampered with or malfunctioning on account of age or other factors are likely to be completed next week.
“Remember in our statement we said that we will give an update once investigations have been completed, so that’s still in progress. We have to consult a number of stakeholders, we work in collaboration with other stakeholders so that we can establish exactly what’s going on.”
“So maybe next week but not early next week, we have to consult other organizations and give them time to make their own investigations,” Ms. Mfuni said
Recently, the Energy Regulation Board (ERB) disclosed that it has instituted investigations into complaints of unusual and unexplained depletion of Zesco prepaid electricity units and the matter is being investigated in accordance with the Energy Regulation Act number 12 of 2019.
