Zambians sensitized on Domestic Tourism

The Ministry of Tourism and Arts says it has taken a deliberate effort to sensitize Zambians on the need to support domestic tourism.
Ministry Public Relations Officer Sakabilo Kalembwe told Money FM News in an interview that if citizens can appreciate the country’s tourism, they will be the best people to propagate and communicate on behalf of the Ministry to the outside world for more international tourists to come in.
Mr. Kalembwe said it was a positive move that the country had seen the Airways opening slowly, stating that the numbers will gradually grow because the healing takes a little bit of time.
“The beauty is that the Ministry of Tourism and Arts has taken a deliberate effort to make sure that we do flat out and sensitization for our domestic tourists.’
“Simple reason is that we know that if our local people can appreciate what we have locally, they will be the best people to propagate and communicate on behalf of the Ministry and the Tourism Agency that does our marketing to the outside world, that this is what we have in Zambia for more tourists to come internationally. But it’s already a good start the fact that the Airlines will start coming here.
He expressed happiness with the Ministry of Transport and Communication for making the pronouncement that they are going ahead with the opening of local Airlines in order for other Airlines to start coming in.
“We are impressed with our sister Ministry, the Ministry of Communication and Transport that has made the pronouncement to say we are going ahead with the opening of our own Airlines to start the other Airlines that will be coming up.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Kalembwe disclosed that the Ministry of Tourism and Arts has been actively interacting with international travel agencies to appreciate their challenges amid Covid-19.
“We look forward to a lot of big things to come, it will be a slow way of ending the year but I know that the end will dawn into a very brighter 2021,” he stated.
