Medical for Quality Healthcare in Zambia (MQHZ) says the 8 percent salary increment given to Civil Servants especially those in the health sector will greatly motivate them to work extra hard.
Organization Director General Dr. Quince Mwabu told Money FM News in an interview that the salary increment has come at a challenging time when the country is fighting the Covid-19 pandemic which has had a negative effect on the economy.
Dr. Mwabu said the organization is looking forward to more increments in the 2022 budget so that civil servants in the health sector can be motivated and continue providing quality health care services to Zambians.
He commended government for taking a step to improve the welfare of Civil servants in the country.
“We commend government for taking that step, to motivate the health workers by increasing their salaries and we are looking forward to the 2022 budget for more increments so that the civil servants in the health sector can be motivated and continue providing quality health care services to the people of Zambia,” Dr. Mwabu said.
All civil servants have been awarded an eight percent salary increment effective January 1, 2021.
Further, Government has awarded health workers an additional two percent as an infectious risk allowance in recognition of their role played in fighting COVID-19.
