Ministry of Health has urged bus operators to re-energize their efforts in observing public health guidelines in order to fight the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Ministry Spokesperson, Dr. Abel Kabalo told Money FM News in an interview that collaboration from the sector in the fight against the pandemic has gone down compared to when the first wave of the pandemic had hit the country.
“Let us throw back our efforts when we had the first wave our collaboration was brilliant where by the Commuter Rights Association of Zambia, Transporters Association, and the Truckers Association of Zambia we had collaborated very well,” he said.
Dr. Kabalo noted that the ministry appreciates the collaboration it has had with stakeholders in the transport sector to fight the pandemic hence the need to re-energize the efforts.
He has since urged bus drivers and conductors to adhere to the highest levels of hygiene urging them to also reduce the number of passengers on board among other measures.
