Zambia – South Africa seek to promote trade balances

• Trade partnerships will help increase Zambia’s competitiveness in trade and investments.
• There is need to actualize the 2018 Bi-National agreement between the two countries
• Missions abroad need to actively utilize Virtual platforms to showcase Zambia’s trade and investment opportunities.

Zambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa says the Mission has engaged a number of South African companies to partner with Zambian companies in order to promote trade balances between the two countries.
In a statement made available to Money FM News by the Missions First Secretary Press and Public Relations Naomi Nyawali, High Commissioner to South Africa Major General Jackson Miti says the trade partnerships will further help increase Zambia’s competitiveness in trade and investments.
“The Mission will continue to facilitate trade and investment conferences for both countries in an effort to increase Zambia’s investment and trade profile,” he said.
He observed that a strategic framework which government together with the Zambian private sector was developing would enhance bilateral and inter-Africa trade through improved trade flows and infrastructure development.
“There is need to actualize the 2018 Bi-National agreement between the two countries in order to ensure that pending market access matters are dealt with,” He mentioned.

General Miti was speaking during a Virtual consultative trade meeting with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Commerce Trade and Industry.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary in charge of International Relations and Co-operation Ambassador Chalwe Lombe has encouraged Zambian Missions abroad to be proactive in promoting Zambia’s Trade and Investment interests.
Ambassador Lombe said there is need for Missions abroad to start actively utilizing Virtual platforms to show case Zambia’s trade and investment opportunities owing to COVID-19 restrictions.
He said this during the Virtual meeting with the Zambian Mission in South Africa also attended by other Zambian Missions in the SADC and COMESA region.
