It’s business as usual – PACRA

• A good number of people are now more receptive to online registration.
• In 2020 the Agency incorporated 11,272 Limited Companies.
• The institution has shown agility and capacity to conduct business in difficult situations.

The Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA) says despite the Covid-19 Pandemic the registration of businesses has not been affected as expected.

PACRA Senior Inspector of Companies Registrations Chewe Chilufya told Money FM News in an interview that the year 2020 was globally a difficulty year because of the Covid-19 pandemic that affected everyone resulting into a shrink in the amount of economic activities.

“However, on our part the registration of businesses has not been as affected as we thought it would, we have not done badly. We have done fairly well given the circumstances because the resilient Spirit of our people has shown itself even during this period of the Covid-19,” he said.

Inspector Chilufya further revealed that a good number of people are now more receptive to online registration of their businesses in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We’ve seen people registering their Intellectual Property Rights and their Intellectual Property Rights mostly in response to the Covid Pandemic so we haven’t done badly,” he noted

The Senior Inspector revealed that in 2020 the Agency incorporated 11,272 Limited Companies, 17, 480 Business names registered and 41,489 limited companies filed their annual returns with 38,298 business names filing their annual returns which he said is a good statistics for PACRA.

He has since stated that the institution has shown agility and capacity to conduct business in difficult situations.

“As an institution we have also shown our agility and our capacity to conduct business even in difficult circumstances in difficult situations so our business continuity has been tested and proven to be the one which works,” said the Senior Inspector of Companies Registrations.
