Take up Production Units for sustainability, schools urged

• A number of schools have started taking up Production Units to help them with financial sustainability.
• Rural schools are faced with a number of challenges among them is lack of capital to take up the initiative.
• Production Units in Schools are a practical Center for Entrepreneurship learning for pupils.

National Action for Quality Education in Zambia (NAQEZ) says School Production Units are a practical center for entrepreneurship learning for pupils.
Speaking in an interview with Money FM News, NAQEZ Executive Director Aaron Chansa said the association supports the Ministry of General Education for coming up with such an initiative as learners will not depart from the skills in future.
Mr. Chansa noted that a number of schools have started taking up Production Units to help them with financial capacity but that it is not the case for rural learning institutions as they are faced with a number of challenges, among them lack of capital.
He called on the Ministry of General Education to conduct trainings for teachers on entrepreneurship and agricultural Skills.
Mr. Chansa observed that the initiative is a good strategy that the Ministry of General Education has put in place to help schools with financial support.
“Schools should embrace production units to support them with financial capacity and not only depend on school fees.”
“The schools will be able to buy chalks and other teaching Materials without been dependent on Government once they take up the initiative.” Mr Chansa said
He called on the ministry of General Education to conduct training for teachers on entrepreneurship and agricultural.
