Domestic tourism yielding positive results – Sakabilo

• A number of Local Tourists are visiting tourism sites in the country.
• There is need to promote local tourism especially this time that the world is battling with coronavirus Pandemic.
• The Ministry received four vehicles with support of the Germany Government and World Wide Fund for nature.

Ministry of Tourism and Arts says the promotion of domestic tourism is yielding positive results as a number of local tourists are visiting various tourism sites in the country.

Speaking in an interview with Money FM News, Ministry Public Relations Officer Sakabilo Kalembwe disclosed that during the Easter period, accommodation in Livingstone was fully booked as tourists were flocking to the area to view tourism sites.

And Mr. Kalembwe said the Ministry recently received four vehicles with the support of the German Government and World Wide Fund for nature to grow the domestic tourism product which is world life.

He added that there is need to continue promoting local tourism especially during the current time when the world is battling with the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Meanwhile, Mr Kalembwe revealed that Zambia is one of the countries that have been rated to be a safe place that international tourists can visit by CNN.

“We are thankful to cooperating partners for partnering with the Ministry of Tourism and Arts to support Tourism in the country,” Mr. Sakabilo said.

Mr. Sakabilo has appealed to private organizations to come on board and Support the Ministry’s promotion of domestic Tourism in the country.
