Zambia Medicines and Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA) has disclosed that a Ndola resident has been fined K60, 000 for operating a pharmacy without a certificate of registration.
Confirming the Development to Money FM News, ZAMRA Senior Public Relations Officer Christabel Illiampu said Chipo Moyo, female aged 34 was fined by Honorable Magistrate Obster Musukwa in Ndola.
“A Ndola business woman on the Copperbelt has been fined K60,000 in default of payment seven (7) months Simple Imprisonment for operating a pharmacy without a Certificate of Registration issued by the Authority contrary to Section 14(1) of the Medicines and Allied Substances Act No. 3 of 2013,” she explained.
Ms. Illiampu revealed that this followed her arrest during a joint operation conducted to curb the sale of medicines and allied substances in unregistered outlets by the Authority in collaboration with Officers from the Drug Enforcement Commission.
She had since stated the authority’s continued commitment, “to undertaking routine surveillance inspections aimed at curbing sale of medicines and allied substances from unregistered premises in its quest to protect public and animal health.”
