ZRA collects K1.4 billion at Kazungula border

• ZRA has collected K1.4 billion at Kazungula One Stop Border Post.
• This is compared to K400 million collected in 2020.

Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) says it has collected K1.4 billion at Kazungula One Stop Border Post from 11th May to 25th August, 2021.
Authority Corporate Communications Manager Topsy Sikalinda disclosed to Money FM News that this is compared to K400 million collected during the same period last year.
Mr. Sikalinda attributed the increase in revenue collection at the facility to enhanced trade facilitation measures that have come with the benefits of a One Stop Border Post.
He stated that the Businesses model under the one stop border system has addressed various cross border compliance challenges resulting in reduced in smuggling activities.
“Among other measures put by the Authority are increased stakeholder engagements, tax education, surveillance and screening which has yielded positive results. The infrastructure is unique and a practical one-stop border post, which makes controls easy for the authority,” Mr. Sikalinda said.
Mr. Sikalinda thanked the clearing sector for assisting the authority reach the remarkable milestone in revenue collection.
The US$259 million Kazungula Bridge over the Zambezi River and One Stop Border Post facilities connecting Botswana and Zambia were commissioned on 10th May 2021, paving the way for enhanced Southern African Development Community (SADC) integration and development.
