MTN Mobile Money receives GSMA Mobile Money Certification

A local mobile telecommunication firm has become the first Fintech organisation in Zambia to achieve the GSMA Mobile Money Certification 2021.

GSMA’s Head of Financial Inclusion Ashley Olson Onyango congratulated MTN Zambia for the outstanding achievement.

Ms Onyango said enhancing trust in mobile money services is in the collective interest of the private sector, governments, regulators, and consumers.

“The Certification aims to take the mobile money industry to the next level by improving quality of services and customer satisfaction, facilitating the implementation of trusted partnerships and building greater trust with regulators,” she stated.
And Company Mobile Money Managing Director Komba Malukutila said the firm is honored to be the first Fintech organisation in Zambia to be awarded the GSMA Mobile Money Certification.

“This recognition is a testament to MTN Mobile Money’s incredible growth, our passionate team who deliver world-class solutions to its base of loyal customers, and our strong focus on innovation and technology,” Mr Malukutila added.

The GSMA Mobile Money Certification is a global initiative to bring safer, more transparent, and more resilient financial services to millions of mobile money users worldwide.

The GSMA Certification defines and promotes excellence in the provision of mobile money services and it is based on independent assessments of a provider’s ability to deliver secure and reliable services, protect consumers’ rights, and combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism.

The efforts are measured against global industry best practices independently.
