No Exam fees for Public and Grant Aided Schools – ECZ

• Candidates in public and Grant aided Schools will not pay examination fees.
• This follows the free education pronouncement by government.
• Candidates in private schools shall pay a minimal amount.

Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ) has revealed that candidates in public and Grant aided Schools will not pay examination fees following the free education pronouncement in grant aided and public schools by Government.
Speaking at a media briefing, Council Director Michael Chilala however said candidates in private schools shall pay a minimal amount.
Dr. Chilala disclosed that those sitting for Grade 7 Composite Examinations in private schools will be required to pay K60, with candidates sitting for Junior Secondary School leaving Examinations at Grade 9 level paying K160 while those sitting for school certificate examination will pay K440.
He said candidates for the grade 9 External examinations will pay K15 per subject and K25 as entry fee, whereas General Certificate of Education Examinations (GCE) candidates will pay K120 per subject and K75 entry fees.
Dr. Chilala urged candidates to ensure that all examination fees are paid through the payment Gateway as stated in the 2022 Guidelines and Regulations for Registration of Candidates.
“The Guidelines and Regulations for Registration of Candidates have been dispatched to all Provincial Education Offices, District Education Board Secretaries ‘Offices and Schools for ease of reference during the registration exercise,” Dr. Chilala said.
He added that the Examinations body will not entertain any wrongly deposited fees and those in the situation will have to deal with this between themselves and the bank.
Meanwhile, Dr. Chilala revealed that a total of 221, 570 candidates sitting for Grade 7 Composite Examination, Junior Secondary School leaving Examination (G9), Grade 9 External Examinations, School Certificate Examinations and General Certificate of Education Examinations have so far registered for the 2022 Examination.
The Examination Council of Zambia has since announced that closing date for registration of Candidates for the 2022 examination is 28th February, 2022, and there will be no extension of the registration period.
