• It should not also thrive in filth and disorder.
• Lusaka CBD can be clean and orderly.

Golden Party of Zambia President Jackson Silavwe told Money FM News that the state of Lusaka Central Business leaves much to be desired as the level of filth and chaos especially along Chachacha, Freedom and Lumumba roads is alarming.
Mr. Silavwe said there is need for Civic leaders to avail to the nation a clean strategic plan to make the city streets healthier and orderly.
“The state of Lusaka Central Business (CBD) is appalling to say the least. Motor vehicles park indiscriminately in the middle of the lanes and not forgetting the ever increasing number of street vendors along the roads.”
“Lusaka CBD can be clean and orderly, we have seen it happen when the armed forces steps in to prevent an outbreak of cholera, but we need a clear lasting strategy to keep Lusaka clean. Let’s face it fellow citizens Lusaka City is a dirty city,” Mr. Silavwe observed.
He stated that the ever increasing number of street vendors and Public buses stopping at every point to pick and drop off passengers needs to be corrected as soon as possible.
“We therefore challenge the Ministry of local Government and the Lusaka City Council (LCC) to urgently reset the CBD and bring it to full order. Hon. Garry Nkombo and the civic leaders must avail to the Nation a clean strategic plan to make our city streets healthier and orderly.”
“We cannot be left to talk about other clean cities and Countries in Africa and watch our own city turn into a chaotic nightmare. Lusaka is indeed a thriving city business wise but it should not also thrive in filth and disorder. It needs urgent sanitization,” he added.
