Government releases K4.5 million to RDA to fix potholes

• Total funds released for pothole patching in the five regions is K4.5 million.
• More funds are expected to be released soon.
• Government remains committed to ensure the Core Road Network is in a motortable state.

Government has released K4.5 Million to the Road Development Agency (RDA) to fix potholes on some roads in Lusaka, Central, Copperbelt, Northern and Muchinga provinces.
RDA Acting Director Communications and Corporate Affairs Anthony Mulowa disclosed to Money FM News that K1 million will go towards works for pothole patching on the Mpika-Kasama road and another K1 Million for Kasama- Mbala-Mpulungu Road in Northern and Muchinga Provinces.
Mr. Mulowa further revealed that Kabwe to Chibombo road in Central province, Kapiri-Mposhi to Ndola and Chingola to Kasumbalesa roads on the Copperbelt have been allocated K500, 000 each.
“Government through Road Development Agency (RDA) remains committed to ensure that the Core Road Network is in a motortable state. To this effect, short and long-term interventions are being instituted at various levels countrywide to improve the state of the road network.”
“For instance, on the Great North Road from Nakonde to Chinsali works are ongoing and progressing well. In the short term, Government has released funds to the Agency which have been sent to various regions,” Mr. Mulowa said.
He added that Lusaka Province has been allocated K1 Million for the Great East Road from Lusaka Airport Round about to Rufunsa district.
“On the Link from Chinsali to Mpika, funding for rehabilitation Works on this section has been secured from European Investment Bank. Currently, the Consultant has mobilized to provide the Technical Assistance on the Project. The Works will commence once the Supervising Consultant and the Works Contractor have been procured.”
“The total funds released for pothole patching in the five regions is K4.5 million. More funds are expected to be released soon,” he added.
