• The private sector must partner with government to ensure that agriculture programs are not flattened.

BuyZed Campaign has called on government to formulate policies that will favor local producers.
Speaking in an interview with Money FM News, Organization Found Evans Ngoma also called on the private sector to partner with government in order to heighten agriculture programs so that the country is able to produce more for local and export markets.
Mr. Ngoma noted that over the years, the country has built capacity to meet the high demand of various vegetables and other food items that are consumed on a daily basis.
“We would like to commend government’s stance and quick response to the plight of farmers through Zambia National Farmers Union, they acted swiftly, those are the kind of responses that we need as a country.”
“Over time, we have built capacity to meet the high demand of various vegetables and other food items that we consume on a daily basis. This move must be applauded by any well-meaning and progressive Zambian,” Mr. Ngoma stated.
He added that 57 years after Independence, Zambia needs to be self-sustaining in almost all sectors of the economy including agriculture.
“Going forward, we need government’s intervention more on policy formulation, policies that will favor local producers. And to the private sector, we would like them to partner with government to ensure that agriculture programs are not flattened, they have to be heightened in order to produce in abundance for the nation and beyond,” he added.
