• Government to ensure that consumers are protected from online criminals as they purchase their goods online
• World Consumer Rights Day theme is a clear indication that consumers have the right to digital business
• Consumer rights refer to everyone’s right to know about the quality, purity, price, and standard of various goods

Zambia Consumer Association (ZACA) has called on Government to ensure that consumers are protected from online criminals as they purchase their goods and services through digital platforms.
Speaking in an interview with Money FM News, Association Executive Secretary Juba Sakala said this year’s World Consumer Rights Day theme, tagged ‘Fair Digital Finance’ is a clear indication that consumers have the right to digital business.
Mr. Sakala stated that consumer rights refer to everyone’s right to know about the quality, purity, price, and standard of various goods and services before buying.
“Every year on March 15, World Consumer Rights Day is commemorated to safeguard consumer rights and to ensure that customers are not subjected to market exploitation or social injustice that may jeopardize their rights,” he said
He added that Government should ensure that commodity prices are reduced in order for low income earned consumers to afford.
Zambia has today joined the rest of the globe in commemorating World Consumer Rights Day under the theme: Fair Digital Finance.
