Ministry of Information and Media says Government is working to ensure that an enabling environment is created where the Media, Civil Society Organizations and other stakeholders are free to interact and share information without fear.
Speaking during launch of a FOX report by Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA)-Zambia in Lusaka, Ministry Permanent Secretary Kennedy Kalunga cited President Hakainde Hichilema’s positive pronouncements that government is working tirelessly to ensure media freedom, freedom of expression and digital rights are respected and enjoyed by every citizen without fear.
Mr. Kalunga noted the current administration is an inclusive government with an open day policy that is working with all stakeholders to ensure that there are laws in place that will support and respect fundamental freedoms.
He reminded “every citizen” to advise government on how best it can better the environment.
According to Mr. Kalunga, “the New Dawn government is an inclusive government with an open door policy that is working with all stakeholders including political parties, the police and the members of the general public to ensure that we have laws in place that are going to support and respect the fundamental freedoms.”
“Our government is also working towards ensuring that an enabling environment is created where the Media Institution, the Journalists, the Human Rights Defenders, the Civil Society Organizations and members of the public are free to interact and share the information without fear.” Mr. Kalunga said.
