Kabwe Constituency Central Member of Parliament reveals K138, 000 emergency fund has been released to rehabilitate dilapidated Public toilets at Kabwe’s Green Market.

Speaking in Kabwe, where she was checking on sanitation status of the market, Chrizoster Phiri said the decision was arrived at after a meeting with the Ward development committee and local authority on the matter which she described as an emergency.

Ms. Phiri noted this was been done in order to allow continued operation of the market in the area.

She urged members of the public to protect the market infrastructure once construction is complete.

Ms. Phiri noted initially the toilets where supposed to be closed by the local authority a situation that would have led to closure of the market.

“Bali Nakuisala am toiloets aya, nomba nga market twaisala ama toilets ninshi na market kwisala.” (There were to close these toilets, but if toilets in a market are closed it implies that the market should also be shut.”

“Iyi, ni emergency ai, pantu nga twaisala market nomba bantu bala sanga kwisa ifyakulya?” (“if we close the market, where would people find food from?” she said.

The Member of Parliament assured that the toilets would be fixed.
