Speaking when a team of delegates from Frankfurt Germany and Local Government Ministry officials from Lusaka and Choma toured some public infrastructure, delegation leader Christian Heigl said Monze is one of the targeted six districts in the province chosen for the grant to support improvements in infrastructure which is in the District Integrated Development Plan (IDP).
Mr. Heigl stated that the mission is in the district to appreciate some of the infrastructure which needs a facelift and Hamusonde market is one of the major projects which have been earmarked to be worked on.
“Hamusonde market in Monze District is set to benefit from a multi-million Euro infrastructure grant program by KFW development bank earmarked for 5 Districts in Southern Province,” he stated.
And Monze Town Council Secretary Frank Kalenga said the local authority is highly appreciative of the gesture by KFW as the grant will go a long way in the rehabilitation of the Hamusonde market.
“The market needs improvements in the water reticulation as well as a construction of an ablution block to improve hygiene and an improvement of the drainage system,” he said.
Mr. Kalenga noted that the local authority will re-plan some of the infrastructure at the market to accommodate modern structures such as a new look market shelter, storage facility goods and a provision for children play park.
