DEC nabs Tanzanian national for trafficking in 1.5 kilogrammes of cocaine

• Tukae Sefu Kilufya, has been formally charged and arrested for Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs.
• She was intercepted by DEC officers at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe Airport in Ndola as she was en route to Tanzania from Brazil.
• Kilufya was profiled at the Airport and later expelled 75 pellets of cocaine weighing 1.5 kilogrammes

Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) on the Copperbelt has arrested a female Tanzanian national for trafficking in 1.5 kilogrammes of cocaine.

Commission Public Relations Officer Hussein Khan revealed that Tukae Sefu Kilufya, 47, has been formally charged and arrested for Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs contrary to the Laws of Zambia.

Mr. Khan said the suspect was intercepted by DEC officers at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe Airport in Ndola as she was en route to Tanzania from Brazil.

“Tukae Sefu Kilufya a female, aged 47 has been formally charged and arrested for Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs contrary to section 15 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act No. 35 of 2021 of the Laws of Zambia.”

“Kilufya was intercepted by DEC officers at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe Airport in Ndola as she was en route to Tanzania from Brazil. She was profiled at the Airport and later expelled 75 pellets of cocaine (weighing 1.5 kilogrammes) she had swallowed,” Mr. Khan said.

He added that Kilufya is detained in lawful custody and will appear in court soon.
