SA President expected in Zambia for peace, security talks

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa is this Thursday expected in the country for a one day working visit to hold peace and security talks with President Edgar Lungu.
Foreign Affairs Minister Joseph Malanji has told journalists in Lusaka that this visit is significant as it will provide an opportunity for the two heads of state to discuss regional peace and security issues as South Africa is the current chairman of SADC and Zambia will resume chairmanship this month during the 38th SADC Summit scheduled to be held in Namibia from 17th to 18th August, 2018.
Mr. Malanji says during the visit of Mr. Ramaphosa, the two heads of state will also witness the signing of an agreement to establish a Bi-National Commission for Cooperation (BNC).
He says the BNC will meet annually and will be chaired by the two heads of state of South Africa and Zambia.
The Foreign Affairs Minister explains that the purpose of the BNC is to seek ways and means of promoting and enhancing cooperation in the various sectors of government and coordination initiatives.
Mr. Malanji further explains that this is also another platform to create contact between the public and private sectors in Zambia and South Africa.
