Kapiri Mposhi to have glass manufacturing plant

Central Province Permanent Secretary Chanda Kabwe is pleased with the construction of the glass manufacturing plant in Kapiri Mposhi saying investors have confidence in investing into Zambia.

The Central Province Permanent Secretary said this when he toured Eagles Glass Manufacturing Plant which is being constructed in Kapiri Mposhi.

Mr. Chanda is delighted with the construction of the glass manufacturing plant saying it is an indicator that foreign investors have full confidence in investing in the Country.

Mr. Chanda notes that the Central Province Investment Forum and Expo has started yielding fruits with the Construction of the glass plant in Kapiri Mposhi.

The Eagle Glass Manufacturing Plant is situated in Kabowa area along Kapiri-kabwe Highway.

Mr. Kabwe was accompanied by Kapiri Mposhi Town Council Chairperson Obby Kabasa, District Commissioner Peter Mwiinde and other senior government officials.

Meanwhile, Mr. Chanda says investments in energy will attract healthy returns as the demand for power exists.

He says currently Central Province has investments by Lunsemfwa Hydro Power Company Limited which is the first private power producer.

He adds that the province also has the Itezhi Tezhi hydro power station which is a joint venture between Tata India and Zesco and that demand for power still exists in the country and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.

Mr. Kabwe says Central Province will welcome other investors in the energy sector.

The PS recalls that as at 2016 the country’s installed capacity stood at 2,493 MW of which 97 percent was from hydro and 3 percent from other sources.

Mr. Kabwe says investments are being encouraged in Hydro, Geothermal, Wind and Solar energy generation.
The Central Province Expo and Investment Forum will be held in from 8th to 13th October, 2018.
