Three international Airlines hit Zambian skies

Government has disclosed that three international Airlines will be coming to Zambia before the end of this year.

Housing and Infrastructure Development Minister Ronald Chitotela disclosed this in Lusaka after touring the US$350 million construction works of the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport.

Mr. Chitotela says the three Airlines include Turkish Airways, Air Zimbabwe and Tanzania Airways.

He says this can be attributed to the improved state of the infrastructure at the major Airports in the country.
The Housing and Infrastructure Development Minister says this will mean that the local people will have jobs created by these companies coming into Zambia.

He says infrastructure is key to growing the country’s economy and hence the need to ensure that it is upgraded to suit international standards.

Mr. Chitotela has also maintained that the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport has not been sold to the Chinese Government as claimed by some stakeholders.

“It is surprising that we have people peddling lies that the PF Government has sold the KKIA Airport when it is still under construction. We have not even started to pay back the loan we got to upgrade the airport,” he said.

He says such reports are misleading and should not be entertained.
