Ndola records reduction in HIV positives

The City of Ndola has recorded a reduction in HIV positives to about six percent from 10 percent in previous years.
Ndola District Medical Officer Christopher Dube has informed council management that the HIV positivity rate seems to be stable due to Test and treat activities that enhanced the prevention of transmissions like eMTCT.
The Ndola City Council has noted that since the launch of the test and treat campaign in August 2017 by President Edgar Lungu which is being replicated in the city there has been a drop in HIV positives.
Mr. Dube says the district is also happy that it has recorded an increase in numbers on ART to 46, 762 and an improved monitoring of viral load which has been attributed to the same test and treat principle as people are now aware of their status.

And Ndola City Council Public Relations Manager Tilyenji Mwanza says the Local Authority is encouraging more people to know their status by ensuring they get tested.
Meanwhile, the district has introduced a new ARV delutagravor which has improved viral suppression and fewer side effects.
Ms Mwanza says in a bid to further ensure easy access to health facilities, the district in the previous year opened up four health posts i.e. Kantolomba HP, Minsundu HP and Hillcrest, Ndola also managed to re-open Kamenso Panshi.
She says the District is also looking at new business which includes the construction of Mushili Hospital and the upgrading of Chipulukusu Clinic.
“JICA has already been engaged in deliberations to discuss the possible upgrades. The Local Authority is also happy to note that it has not recorded any Cholera cases this season,” she said in a statement obtained by Money FM News.
