Tourism needs private sector to grow

Government says their operations cannot be successful without input from the private sector.
Ministry of Tourism and Arts Public Relations officer Sakabilo Kalembwe says the sector has been key in supporting the growth of the tourism sector as well as wildlife conservation.
Speaking in a telephone interview with Money FM News in Lusaka, Mr. Kalembwe has observed that the sector is embracing the enabling environment that government has created for them to strive.
He says government cannot grow the tourism sector alone adding that they can only come in where they see there is a challenge.
Mr. Kalembwe says the ministry is impressed with the Private investor who has put up a lodge at Kalambo falls in Mbala, saying that tourists visiting the place will now spend more time there because of the available accommodation.
“This is what we are encouraging, for everyone to come on board to support the growth of this sector , the government has created an environment, it is up to the private sector now, to come and grow it”. He said.
Adding that “so private sector is very cardinal and we really appreciate that they have come this far with us.”
