Indian specialised hospital, eyes Zambia.

A renowned international hospital has started talks with Zambia High Commission in India to build a multi specialist hospital in Zambia.

“We are ready to use private capital for this exercise,” Bombay Maternity and Surgical Hospital Surat Director Dr. Ajoy Bhattacharya said.

He said his hospital had excelled in the provision of 24-hour emergency services in the Indian State of Gujarat.

“The latest technology coupled with our reputed Indian doctors can help Zambia to address challenges such as neurology, orthopedics, gynecology, oncology, pediatrics, urology, E.N.T. among others,” Dr. Bhattacharya said.

He said this when Zambia’s High Commissioner to India Judith Kapijimpanga toured the hospital in Surat City in the Indian State of Gujarat, 2000 kilometres away from the Indian Capital New Delhi.

And Zambia’s High Commissioner to India Judith Kapijimpanga said Zambia was spending huge resources to refer patients abroad.

“The Mission is working tirelessly to ensure that an Indian investor builds a hospital in Zambia to provide specialised services such as lung, heart, kidney, liver transplants and cancer,” she said.

Mrs. Kapijimpanga said a specialist hospital would be ideal to cater for Zambia and the eight neighbouring countries.

“I am happy that Dr. Bhattacharya is ready to send specialised doctors as soon as possible for a detailed fact-finding mission and suitable location of the specialised hospital,” the High Commissioner said.
