DR. Kalima raises 50 percent of funds required to construct a Clinic in Nalolo District

Dr. Pota Kalima, a Zambian doctor on a mission to raise funds for the construction of a clinic in Nalolo, Western Province has so far raised more half of the targeted K150,000.
Dr. Pota Kalima who lives and works in Edinburgh, Scotland made the decision to cycle from Mbala to Lusaka about 12 months ago as a means to raise funds for the construction of the clinic.
He stated that corporate institutions were also contributing and gave an example of Airtel Zambia which he said had donated K12, 500 towards the project.
Dr. Kalima said this when he paid a Courtesy call on the Minister of Health Dr. Chitalu Chilufya at his office at Ndeke House this morning. He was in the company of Nalolo Lawmaker, George Imbuwa.
“About 12 months ago, I started preparing for this challenge and I set myself a target of cycling from Mbala to Lusaka and with my colleagues at work, we agreed it was a good venture to solicit for funds to build a clinic in Nalolo. And so that is how after a lot of preparation, I arrived on the 16th of July in Mbala. ” he said.
Dr. Kalima arrived in Lusaka on 24th July, 2019 having being on the road about 8 days from Mbala to the capital city.
He said in the process, a lot of people have been sending donations directly to the just giving web site.
And Dr. Chilufya placed on record government’s gratitude for initiatives such as the one Dr. Kalima had embarked on.
He said due to the huge task of ensuring that health facilities are erected in all parts of the country to collapse distances that citizens have to travel to access adequate health care services, resources always ended up being a challenge.
He said the health facility would be an addition to the ones that government is dotting around the country and announced that resources would immediately be made available to add onto what Dr. Kalima has raised so that the project can commence at once.
And UPND Member of Parliament for Nalolo constituency, George Imbuwa said he was looking forward to the project being done because it will greatly improve the delivery of Health care services in his constituency.
