The Citizens Environmental and Social Concern has appealed to the government to subsidize the cost of liquefied petroleum gas as an intervention during the ongoing electricity load shedding.
Organization Executive Director Conwell Hakapya notes that load shedding is pushing up the demand for charcoal, which leads to increased deforestation in Zambia.
Speaking in an interview with Money FM, Mr. Hakapya observes that the cost liquefied petroleum gas is expensive for ordinary citizens who resort to use charcoal as a cheaper source for energy.
