Kwacha to lose value against U.S. Dollar

An Economist has projected the possibilities of the Kwacha to lose value against the United States Dollar.
Mr. Mambo Hamaundu says in an interview with Money FM that the kwacha is likely to trade at K14 against the United States dollar towards the end of the last quarter of 2019.
Mr. Hamaundu attributes this to pressure as a result of performance of the local economic
He also cites increased demand for the US dollar, as well as challenges in the Mining sector including Zambia’s external debt and electricity deficit facing major sectors of the economy as reasons for the projected weakening of the kwacha.
The US dollar is buying at thirteen-kwacha five ngwee and selling at thirteen-kwacha thirty ngwee.
