Zesco currently experiencing 210 megawatts power deficit.

State owned power utility firm Zesco is only producing 290 megawatts of electricity on average instead of 500 megawatts due to reduced water levels.
Money FM Staffer Hope Chanda reports that Kariba North Bank power Station Manager Edward Simbaya has told a Parliamentary Committee on Energy that toured the facility today that water levels are only able to power two out of the six power generation machines.
Mr Simbaya explains that this is an effort to maintain electricity generation to power key sectors of national development to avoid the complete shutdown of the electricity plant.
And Energy Minister Matthew Nkhuwa told Journalists drawn from various media houses that the parliamentary tour is meant to allow Lawmakers have an understanding of the impact of drought experienced last rainy season on electricity generation at Kariba dam.
The Zambezi River Authority says Lake Kariba water levels dropped by 8 centimeters during the week under review, before closing at 478.08 meters representing 18 percent usable storage on 23rd September 2019.
