New consultant engaged to undertake electricity cost of service study

The Ministry of Energy has announced the engagement of Energy Markets and Regulatory Consultants (EMRC) as the new consultants to undertake the electricity cost of service study.
Minister in Charge Matthew Nkhuwa says the new consultants will restart the study and are expected to deliver within 12 months.
Mr. Nkhuwa explains that the engagement of Energy Markets and Regulatory Consultants comes following the request by formerly engaged Economy Consultant Associates to withdraw from the study.
And The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) Executive Director Hlengiwe Lungu has clarified that determining the cost of ZESCO tariffs is not the sole purpose of undertaking the study.
