Luapula Energy deficit delay to investment

An Investment Expert has advised the government to speed up on the electrification of Luapula province in a bid to strengthen industrialization.

Speaking in an interview with Money FM News, Kenny Sinyangwe said Luapula province cannot develop its industry if it continues to strangle in the energy sector.
“The province has the largest commitment in terms of capital investment hence government should allow the private sector to set up a power generation plant in the area to help hasten production,” He said.

“Plus the mining sector is finding it hard to process Manganese which is a large resource in the area due to the deficiency,” He added.

Yesterday Luapula Province Minister Nickson Chilanga said that only 15 per cent of over 100 investments pledges made during the Luapula investment exposition held in 2017 are being explored due to lack of electricity in the area.
