A Political Party has advised government to ensure that the US$20 million Avocado Project in Chingola District on the Copperbelt benefits the Youth and Women with Permanent jobs.
Leadership Movement National Youth Coordinator, Chalwe Chandalala said the party does not expect foreign experts to take over the running of the said plantation because the local people are capable of doing the work and are available for training if provided.
“Following the announcement by Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) that an Indian Firm has pledged to set up an avocado plantation in Chingola,” Mr Chandalala Said.
“We demand for the said US$20 million Avocado Project to go towards youths and women through creation of permanent jobs,” he said.
Mr Chandalala said the party supports locally produced goods and services because it believes that the country’s economy can only perform better through the promotion of local goods and services.
He said the organization expects more jobs and opportunities to be created once the firm is fully operational.
Mr Chandalala further said the party expects cleaning, transportation and supplying services to be offered by the local companies and individuals within Chingola.

His comments come in following the announcement by Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) that an Indian Firm has pledged to set up an avocado plantation in Chingola.
