ZAMRA stands firm on Medicines and Allied Substances Act

Zambia Medicine and Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA) has reiterated that the Medicines and Allied Substances Act (No. 3) of 2013 mandates it to protect public health by ensuring that all medicines and allied substances being made available to Zambians meet the set standard of quality, safety and efficacy.
Authority Senior Public Relations Officer Christabel Illiampu told Money FM News in a statement that ZAMRA hence routinely and diligently ensures that this task is carried out to the highest and professional standard.
Ms. Illiampu further disclosed that Authority is carrying out its duties with due diligence regarding the quality of medicines and allied substances.
She said the suppliers and the public will be informed on steps to be taken, should there be any concerns which may arise.
“Due to the information in the public domain regarding the quality of medicines and allied substances, the Authority wishes to inform the public that ZAMRA is carrying out its duties with due diligence and should there be any concerns which may arise, the suppliers and the public will be duly informed on the steps to be taken,” she said.
