Two arrested for illegally operating a pharmacy

Zambia Medicines and Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA) has revealed that Two business men of Lundazi District in Eastern Province have been jointly arrested for operating a pharmacy without a Certificate of Registration.


ZAMRA Senior Public Relations Officer Christabel Illiampu told Money FM News in a statement that this is contrary to section 14(1) of the Medicines and Allied Substances Act No. 3 of 2013.


Mrs. Illiampu disclosed that Mika Nyoni, male aged 46 years acting jointly with his sales man Alick Manda, male aged 29 years have since been detained at Lundazi Police Station and will appear in court soon.

“The incident happened following a routine inspection undertaken by Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority officers in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Commission,” she said.

Mrs. Illiampu has since said the Authority remains vigilant and committed to protecting public health through curbing illegal drug stores.
