Political Science Association of Zambia launched

Political Scientists in Lusaka have launched the Political Science Association of Zambia (PSAZ) aimed at promoting the study of politics in the country.

Speaking during the official launch, Organization President Joe Dambwa said the objective of the Association is to champion political science on politics and public affairs in Zambia.

Mr Dambwe noted that the existence of this body is long overdue, and cannot be launched at a better time than now when the country is faced with a number of political Challenges.

He observed that the country has been facing serious political challenges among them difficulties in financing electoral process such as the voter registration exercise which the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has however managed to handle.

“The existence of this body is long overdue to avert many challenges affecting the nation today, country has been facing serious challenges but the Electoral Commission of Zambia has managed to pull through,” he said.

“The political environment in Zambia is toxic and wants not to change how the people behave and act in the political demands.”

Mr. Dambwe further urged the ECZ and all interest groups to work together to ensure health guidelines are observed even as the country heads to the polls this year.

He also commended electorates for taking time to register as voters in order to participate in the General Elections.

The association is composed of academicians, fellows and other bodies that specialized in research and science.
