1, 476 new Covid-19 cases with 12 deaths

• Positive cases are out of 11, 683 tests conducted.
• Mortalities recorded in Lusaka, Eastern, Copperbelt and Northern provinces.
• 6, 588 active cases

The Ministry of Health says the country has in the last 24 hours recorded a high number of positive Covid-19 cases at 1, 476 with 12 deaths.
Speaking to the media during the daily Covid-19 status update, Health Minister Dr. Jonas Chanda said the positive cases are out of 11, 683 tests conducted.
Dr. Chanda explained that of the positive cases recorded, 345 are from the Copperbelt Province, 323 in North Western , 186 from Lusaka, 125 in Luapula, 121 from Southern, 101 in Eastern, 88 from Northern, 55 in Muchinga, 60 in Central while 72 are from Western Provinces.
He further said that of the mortalities recorded, four are from Lusaka, two from Eastern, five from the Copperbelt while one is from the Northern Provinces and has since classified them as seven Covid-19 deaths while four are associated mortalities and one is pending classification.
Dr. Chanda added that the country currently has 6, 588 active cases with 6, 093 under community management while 495 are admitted in health facilities of which 339 are on oxygen therapy and 35 in critical condition.
The Minister has since reminded citizens to adhere to the health guidelines as directed by the Ministry of Health in order to curb the pandemic.
