Disregard for health guidelines worrying – MoH

• There’s need for citizens to not let their guard down and always adhere to health guidelines.
• 825 new positive Covid-19 cases recorded out of 5, 600 tests conducted.
• 1, 394 recoveries from both community management and healthcare facilities.

The Ministry of Health says it is worried by the disregard of health guidelines at super spreader events such as funerals, markets and public transportation by citizens’ in the country.
In a statement made available to Money FM News, Health Minister Dr. Jonas Chanda explained that the coronavirus is still active, hence the need for citizens to not let their guard down and always adhere to the guidelines as directed by Ministry of Health.
Dr. Chanda added that the Ministry remains committed to ensuring the safety of pupils and teachers in schools following the opening.
Meanwhile, 1, 394 recoveries have been recorded from both community management and healthcare facilities in the last 24 hours bringing the total number of recoveries to 49, 394 since March, 2019.
Dr. Chanda said 825 new cases have been recorded out of 5, 600 tests conducted which shows a 14. 73 percent positivity rate.
He explained that of the cases recorded, 303 are from the Copperbelt, 248 from Lusaka, 104 in Southern, 60 from North Western, 45 in Luapula, 28 in Central, 16 from Northern, 15 in Eastern and 6 from Western Provinces.
The Minister further said 17 deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours with 12 classified as Covid-19 deaths while five are associated Covid-19 mortalities.
The country currently has 4, 868 active cases of which 430 are admitted in healthcare facilities while 4, 438 are under community management.
