Aviation Expert hails new Airport

• Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport has been commissioned.
• Infrastructure is needed for future growth of the industry.
• There is a lot that needs to be done.

An Aviation Expert says the commissioning of newly constructed Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport in Ndola will greatly contribute to the growth of the Aviation industry.
Speaking in an interview with Money FM News, Captain Charles Musenge stated that infrastructure development is very important for future growth of the industry.
Captain Musenge however said more still needs to be done in order to expand the sector.
“We need infrastructure for future growth of the industry and that’s just what we have now, so it’s a good thing. Obviously there is a lot to be done, that is not the end of it but like everything in life, you do one thing at a time.”
“You involve an airport, you look at the equipment, you look at grader systems, expertise and airport to airport, expand the industry, so like everything in life you do one thing at a time,” Captain Musenge said.
On Thursday, President Edgar Lungu commissioned the 400 million dollar Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport in Ndola on the Copperbelt Province, which is expected to create over 1, 000 jobs.
The facility includes developing standard aviation facilities, and it will service a number of routes including South Africa, Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Tanzania as well as service domestic routes such as Lusaka, Solwezi and other destinations for chartered flights.
